Introduction
Dr Shivendra Singh is a Graduate and Post Graduate from prestigious King Georges Medical College Lucknow. He completed his M.Ch. (Gastrointestinal Surgery) from GovindBallabh Pant Hospital & Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. After completing his MCh, he worked as an Assistant Professor in GI Surgery at GB Pant Hospital, New Delhi. Later, he joined Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences, NewDelhi in 2007 and was working as an Associate Professor in HPB Surgery & Liver transplantation before moving to RGCI in 2011. He was involved in setting up & starting successful Liver Transplant program at ILBS.
He has many International publications in indexed journals. He was awarded French Government scholarship for training in Advanced laparoscopic GI Surgery at Montsouris Institute, University of Paris. He did his liver transplant fellowship from world renowned Queen Mary Hospital, University of Hong Kong. He has special interest in management of liver & pancreatic tumors, radical surgery for gall bladder cancer, laparoscopic surgery for GI malignancies, robotic esophagcetomy, HIPEC for GI malignancies, microwave ablation for liver tumors and liver transplantation.
At RGCI he started HIPEC for the first time in India for colorectal surgery using dedicated HIPEC machine. He also started Extralevator APR (ELAPE) , Intersphincteric resection for low rectal tumors & TAMIS. He has the largest experience in India, of ELAPE with reconstruction using biological mesh.
He also established the liver transplant program at RGCI and made RGCI the first dedicated cancer institute in India to have a liver transplant program with special interest in transplant for liver tumors.
